Nagaoka Hen’ichirō’s Confession of a Self-Tormenting Demon is a substantial autobiographical statement tracing obsessive interests in restraint imagery, masochism, sexual compulsion, and the narrator’s attempts to reconcile fantasy with ordinary work and domestic life. Shibashima Reiko then evaluates the visual and literary material from the preceding four issues, offering unusually direct evidence of how a female reader interpreted poses, facial expressions, photographic technique, and the emotional force of restraint scenes.

The central portion alternates fiction with personal and quasi-scholarly essays. Life Sentence is narrated from within a master-servant relationship and develops themes of captivity, discipline, humiliation, and permanent submission. Other contributions examine women’s underwear, an idealized female figure named Asako, fantasies of female disembowelment, sadistic nursing and medical treatment, colloquial sexual terminology, and a long science-fictional SM narrative set beyond ordinary terrestrial society. The issue also includes discussions of female wrestling, throwing techniques, feet and soles, private recollections, erotic film, bondage illustration, and the aesthetics of masochistic art.

The later pages continue through stories and testimonies concerning punished athletes, drowning and death fantasy, confinement, hospitals, execution, and bodily examination. Reader correspondence and editorial columns occupy much of the closing section, alongside announcements, book and photograph advertisements, classified personal notices, subscription information, and publication data. Together these sections reveal Kitan Club as both a fantasy magazine and an active correspondence network in which readers debated technique, authenticity, aesthetics, personal experience, and the practical possibility of forming relationships around minority erotic interests.
