Summary

The November 1974 issue of Kitan Club combines an unusually extensive opening bondage portfolio with documentary accounts of organized SM play, fiction, personal testimony, fetish essays, serialized narratives, and studies of specialized erotic practices. Its editorial identity is strongly participatory: models, photographers, practitioners, readers, and writers repeatedly cross the boundary between observation and performance, giving the issue the character of both an erotic magazine and a record of an active SM subculture.

The opening section is dominated by photographic kinbaku imagery, including monochrome and color studies of rope bondage, gagging, contorted positions, suspension motifs, rubber garments, and close attention to bodily expression. This leads directly into the major S-Research Society feature, The Expression of the Thumb Bent into the Character く, in which Tsukamoto Tetsuzō recounts a bondage session involving Yajima Yasuko and Kawamoto Kōzō. The article combines photographs with detailed first-person commentary on tying technique, the model's responses, interpersonal trust, spectatorship, and the aesthetics of discomfort and restraint. Its length and documentary tone make it a central feature of the issue.

The middle portion broadens into fiction and experiential writing. A student-torture story is followed by Under the Midday Sun, the serialized M-faction profile Porno Actress, the experiential piece One Night in a Freak-Show Hut, the long-running serial novel Great Eruption, and the M-Group work The Female Prisoner. Later essays move toward interpretation and confession: Sadism Seen in Graffiti treats sadistic imagery as a subject of observation, while The Day My Wife Junko and I Burned and The Conduct of Love Slave Pero use personal or quasi-confessional forms. Anus Experiences I Cannot Forget adds another autobiographical fetish narrative before the historical SM serial The Gate of Purple Orchids.

The later pages shift toward focused fetish studies. The discussion A Swaying Bridle examines gagging or bit-related restraint, Women's Sumo Notes treats female wrestling as an erotic and observational subject, and My SM Experiment: Nasal Torment with a Nelaton Catheter gives a lengthy technical and experiential account of medicalized nasal stimulation. Throughout, illustrations and photographs remain integral rather than decorative, reinforcing Kitan Club's characteristic mixture of documentation, fantasy, technique, confession, and community discourse.
