SM Collector Vol. 4, October 2014

SM Collector Vol. 4 is a Japanese special issue devoted to the commercial, photographic, and performative culture of bondage and sadomasochism. Identified in the colophon as an October 2014 supplement, it combines gravure photography, adult-video catalogue material, performer retrospectives, serialized fiction, interviews, news, reader correspondence, advertising, and specialist marketplace information. Yuu Kawakami is the central figure. The opening pages combine the staged video narrative Beautiful Sacrifice with her ten-year selection of memorable works. The retrospective preserves DVD covers, release dates, labels, production stills, and short commentaries, documenting Kawakami’s movement between the Morino Shizuku and Yuu Kawakami identities and the changing commercial forms of Japanese SM video.
